Couch to 5K Journal

My Goal for 2011 is by Thanksgiving to be able to run in 5K with no problems. And Run the whole thing. And in turn hopefully start to lose some weight while I train.


Week 1


Day 1 (1st Attempt) - 1/1/11 - Went to the Walking Park and really tried to get this started but between not being in a very good emotional state at the moment and also being very distracted by Kason today did not go well. Felt very worn out very quickly and didn't even make it half way through todays intervals.
Distance - 1 Mile, Walked

Day 1 (2nd Attempt) - 1/3/11 - Went to the gym tonight, was in a much better emotional state and just took Michael with me and hopped on the treadmill and made it through the intervals this time. Felt very good afterwards except for my feet going numb.
Distance: 1.59 miles, Walking pace 2.5 mph, Jogging Pace 4 mph, Total Time 30 mins.


Day 2 - 1/5/11 - Went back to the gym tonight since it went so well the other night. Made it through the intervals again. Didn't feel as well afterwards this time. Ankles were hurting me a lot on the way home and I had a headache.
Distance: 1.54 miles, Walking pace 2.5 mph, Jogging Pace 4.5 mph, Total Time 30 mins.


Day 3 (1st Attempt) - 1/8/11 - Went the the Walking Park again and it defeated me again. Why is it that the park beats me almost immediately. It wasn't hot, it wasn't cold. It was very comfortable out. But before i knew it I could not freaking breath. God please give me the strength to manage my workouts once a week at the park. I can't handle the drive gas wise to the gym 3 days a week.
Not sure how far I made it, lost count. I got 3 of 9 runs and 2 of 8 walks done. Will attempt day 3 again on Monday at the gym. Week 1 might get repeated until I can make it through it easier. I have no need to be done in 9 weeks.
